Muse is a British music group that has the kind of music that combines different styles. MUSE combines the flow of classical, modern, latin and even in their songs. The band was formed in Devon in 1994. Members of the band consists of three members: Matthew Bellamy (singer, guitarist, pianist), Dominic Howard (drummer) and Chris Wolstenholme (bassist). After the launch of their fourth album, Morgan Nicholls and Dan the Trumpet Man also frequently appeared in concerts of Muse, as a keyboardist and backing vocals and to Dan the Trumpet Man appeared as a trumpeter for the song knights of cydonia and beyond.

(1992-1997) Formation

In the early 1990s, members of rock band Muse have each in their school. Formation of Muse began when Matthew Bellamy 14 years old and successfully pass an audition to enter Dominic Howard's band. When their bassist decided to quit, they asked their good friend, Chris Wolstenholme, to join and learn the bass guitar. Chris had refused, but finally decided to join. This new band had changed its name many, among others, Gothic Plague, Carnage Mayhem, Fixed Penalty, and Rocket Baby Dolls, until finally using MUSE's name is known now. Chronological order the name change of this band is unclear, because the Muse gave inconsistent information in their interviews.

In 1994, still with the band name Rocket Baby Dolls and with a gothic / glam, they won the battle of the bands competition locally. And not long after this, they changed the name to Muse, and began performing in clubs like the Cavern in Exeter.

(1998-2000) Breakthrough

After several years building a fan, Muse played their first concerts in London and Manchester. The band had a meeting with Dennis Smith, owner of Sawmills recording studio, based in Cornwall, England.

This meeting led to the first official recording of Muse, namely EP self-titled debut (berjudulkan name of the band) using inhouse label Sawmills, Dangerous. Then E.P. their 2nd, Muscle Museum, attracted the attention of influential British music journalist Steve Lamacq and the weekly British music magazine NME. Dennis Smith helped build the company Taste Media music, made specifically for the MUSE (MUSE use this label for their first three albums). This is very beneficial for Muse because they can maintain the uniqueness of their music at the beginning of their careers.

Although E.P. 2nd their success and acclaim, many British record companies were reluctant to back Muse, and many people in the music industry considers the music of Muse too much like Radiohead. However, companies realize the American Maverick Records MUSE appear several times in the United States, and then sign them in 1998. Upon their return from America, Taste Media arranged deals for Muse with various record labels in Europe and Australia. John Leckie, who produced albums for Radiohead, Stone Roses, "Weird Al" Yankovic and The Verve, Muse made the producer's first album, Showbiz.

The launch of this album followed by tour support band the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers in the United States. In 1999 and 2000 Muse played at major music festivals in Europe, as well as performing well in Australia, and collected many new fans in Western Europe.

(2001-2002) Early fame

Their second album, Origin of Symmetry, by Leckie as producer, too, contains music that is more heavy and dark, with Wolstenholme bass voice, heavy and distorted. And songs like Space Dementia using the classic technique, inspired by Rachmaninoff.

MUSE experiment with musical instruments that are not commonly used, such as a church organ, Mellotron, drums and equipment diperlengkap. More Muse Bellamy wore a high voice, with the sound of guitar arpeggios, and a piano that sounds obvious, which is inspired by Romanticism movement, particularly the Russian musician Sergei Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky. In addition, there are also elements such as Philip Glass, minimalist music. This album also includes the recycling of Feeling Good song, originally created by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

In general, eccentric style rock band Muse looks like a Queen in the 1970s

This album is probably going to make the MUSE increasingly popular in the United States, but Maverick did not agree with Bellamy's vocal style (which is deemed unsuitable for radio), and asked Muse to change some of their songs to be released in America. Muse, who instantly feel humiliated, rejected and left the record company Maverick, which resulted in no release of the album Origin of Symmetry in America (the album was finally released there on September 20, 2005).

After this album, Muse released Hullabaloo Soundtrack, a DVD containing their appearance at Le Zenith in Paris, France in 2001. Then at the same time, they released a double album that contains B-sides and recordings of performances at Le Zenith. Then double album contains the singles A-side was also released, with two new songs, namely In Your World and Dead Star, which is different from the style of opera other songs on Origin of Symmetry.

In the February 2006 edition of the magazine Q Magazine, album Origin of Symmetry is placed on the order of 74 of the 100 best albums of all time by fans.
